The new aquatic centre under construction at Strathcona Gardens is making significant progress.
In its latest project update, the Strathcona Regional District says it’s reached a major milestone, with concrete poured for all exterior foundations, columns, and walls.
As well, construction has started on the lap pool. Forms and concrete for footings and walls are now under construction.
As well, rough-ins for mechanical and electrical systems are in progress, along with backfilling at the site.
The REC-REATE Aquatic and Wellness Project is a major renewal for the pool and arena complex, which was first built in the 1970s. The new pools and wellness centre are expected to be finished and open in spring 2027.
