Water levels on the Campbell River have been increased this month to accommodate steelhead salmon, which spawn in spring.
Water flows up to seven cubic metres per second are now in place and will continue until the morning of April 16. They will help steelhead access good spawning habitat from the generating station up to Elk Falls.
Temporary safety signage is in place along the trails within the Elk Falls Canyon area and we ask the public to please stay away from the water flow above Elk Falls. People can view the falls from the safety of the suspension bridge and the lookout.
Meanwhile BC Hydro says water inflows into the system have been 83% of normal, and the snowpack is at normal levels for this time of year.
