Merecroft Road will be completely closed on Saturday and Sunday outside Robron Park for a soccer tournament.
The section between South Birch Street and the Campbell River Youth Soccer Clubhouse will be closed both days from 8 am to 6 pm. The parks on either side of the road will be hosting the Mini World Cup, a weekend of minor soccer action with teams from all over the Island. More than 100 teams will be taking part.
During the event, each team will represent a different country. There will also be opening ceremonies and a parade on Saturday, starting at 1:30 pm.
The road is being closed to make it safe for everyone. Drivers are asked to follow all traffic controls, and to cheer on the future soccer stars as they compete.
