North Island MLA Anna Kindy is weighing in on last week’s leadership change within the B.C. Conservative Party.
Kindy said the decision by John Rustad to step aside opens a new chapter for the party, noting his work as leader helped steer it through a period of growth.
In a post on social media, she thanked Rustad for his commitment and described the transition as an energizing moment for members.
Kindy also offered congratulations to Trevor Halford, who is now serving as interim leader.
She added that, amid the leadership change, her focus remains on serving her constituents.
“As we move forward, I want to assure you that my commitment to the North Island remains unwavering,” Kindy said. “My work continues with energy and purpose, standing up for families, supporting our resource industries, improving access to health care and ensuring common-sense solutions for the challenges we face.”
Rustad officially left his role as party leader on Dec. 4, 2025.
