North Island-Powell River MP appointed as member of Building Canada Act Committee

Aaron Gunn, MP for North Island–Powell River, has been appointed to the special joint committee on the Exercise of Powers Under the Building Canada Act, known as BCAN.

The committee now consists of 11 members of Parliament. Five members, including Gunn, are Conservatives, five are Liberals and one is a member of the Bloc Québécois.

BCAN was formed in May 2025 to oversee how the Building Canada Act is applied and to review infrastructure projects of national interest.

“As the United States continues its hostile and unjustified trade war targeting Canada, I know that our country needs to build and diversify its economy urgently,” said MP Gunn.

BCAN will start meeting in February. It will elect its Chair and Vice-Chairs, then begin its business.
