City approves upgrade projects for Campbell River Airport

Upgrades are planned for the City of Campbell River Airport.

City council has approved projects for the departure lounge, arrivals façade and parking lot.

The $30,000 departure lounge improvements include two new glass boarding gate doors and a customer service kiosk to support increased air service, improve passenger flow and allow multiple aircraft to board at the same time. Work is expected to be completed ahead of service increases in late spring 2026.

“The upgrades will reduce congestion, enhance the customer experience and safely accommodate higher passenger volumes,” the city said in a statement.

The arrivals façade will receive up to $36,000 for permanent glass art panels created by a local business to welcome visitors and showcase Campbell River.

Council also approved up to $195,000 to reconfigure and expand the airport parking lot, with funds drawn from the city’s airport reserve.
