People showed up in droves for Canada Day festivities in Campbell River on Wednesday.

Celebrations included the Canada Day parade and a lineup of musicians and bands at Robert Ostler Park and Spirit square, with Trooper as the final act of the night.

Shoppers Row became a Canada Day marketplace for most of the day, with food trucks and local vendors lining the streets.
North Island – Powell River MP Aaron Gunn, just appointed shadow minister for ethics and accountable government on June 30, made an appearance in the parade and at his own tent in Robert Ostler Park.
“Every July first is a perfect opportunity to reflect back and remember that this is the greatest country in the world,” said Gunn. “It’s great to see the city put on a great show for the people that live here.”
The night ended with a firework show.
