RCMP investigating early morning stabbing in Campbell River

Campbell River RCMP are investigating the stabbing of a 30-year-old female that took place in downtown Campbell River early on July 19.

The RCMP said police were called to a parking lot in the 1200 block of Cedar Street at approximately 2:30 a.m., for a report of a stabbing.

“Multiple RCMP members responded to the scene, locating the 30-year-old victim and ensured that she received the necessary medical assistance from Emergency Health Services,” said a media release from the RCMP.

Officials said the woman was later transported to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. They added the victim was known to the attacker, and that there is no danger to the public.

The major crime unit, forensics unit and general duty all remained at the scene to examine the location and to speak with witnesses.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have information or video footage to contact them.
