Rotary Club presents John Howard Society of North Island with $1,200

The Rotary Club of Campbell River has presented the John Howard Society of North Island with a $1,200 donation to support the society’s KidStart program.

The Rotary Club said KidStart connects children aged six to 12 with adult volunteer mentors who provide friendship, encouragement and a positive influence.

The society offers weekly activities and experiences aimed at helping local children build confidence, resilience and important life skills.

“We are proud to support the John Howard Society and its commitment to ensuring local children have someone in their corner,” said a Rotary Club social media post. “When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our entire community.”

The club said some Campbell River children wait years to be matched with a mentor, making support for the program and its volunteers a priority.
