Campbell River firefighters honour 9/11 victims

Firefighters in Campbell River marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a memorial stair climb last week.

Members of the Campbell River Fire Department climbed the equivalent of 110 floors at Crestview Towers during the fourth annual event.

The climb honours the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and thousands of civilians who died in the 2001 attacks.

The department said the memorial also remembers Campbell River firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the community, along with emergency responders who continue to answer the call.
