End is nigh for current aquatic centre, last swim Sept. 25

It’s almost time to say goodbye to a long-time Campbell River amenity.

The current Strathcona Gardens pool will have its final day of public access on Sept. 25.

The Strathcona Regional District is marking 47 years of community memories with a day of activities.

Cake, photos and news articles will be on display in the lobby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a farewell fun swim from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The regional district says public access to the new pool is expected to begin Oct. 16, with the first offerings requiring pre-registration.
