Campbell River and Port Hardy will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Wednesday with community events.
In Campbell River, the day begins at 11 a.m. at Spirit Square with an opening and march to Kwanwatsi Big House.
Ceremonies there will include a welcome and blessing for Survivors, lunch, traditional dances and closing speeches.
The Tidemark Theatre will host a conversation with hereditary Chief Robert Joseph from 4 to 6 p.m.
In Port Hardy, an Every Child Matters march will head to Carrot Park. Organizers say marshalling begins at 10:30 a.m. outside the Sacred Wolf Friendship Centre.
People are encouraged to wear orange and take part in listening, learning and honouring residential school Survivors.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is observed each year on Sept. 30 to honour Survivors and the children who never returned home.
