Doug Chapman seeking re-election to Campbell River city council

First elected to Campbell River city council in 2022, Doug Chapman is seeking a second term.

Chapman has served as chief administrative officer four times and chief financial officer in several communities.

“I spent 36 years helping municipalities turn council decisions into work that could actually be done,” Chapman said in a statement. “A budget needs people to carry it out, and somebody needs to check the result.”

He said he wants people in their thirties and forties to be able to build a life in Campbell River.

“I am concerned about people in their thirties and forties. I really am,” Chapman said. “We need places for them to live, work and play, where they can have a wholesome life here in Campbell River.”

Chapman said the city needs enforcement focused on drug dealing and repeat disorder, while people living with addiction should have opportunities for treatment and housing.

The municipal election is Oct. 17.
