Emergency training exercise at YBL Wednesday

The City of Campbell River is holding an emergency training exercise at the Campbell River Airport on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The exercise will bring together city staff, emergency responders and partner agencies to practise a coordinated response to a simulated emergency.

Residents may see emergency vehicles and personnel around the airport, but the city says there is no risk to the public and regular airport operations are not expected to be affected.

“Access to exercise areas will be restricted to authorized personnel,” the city said in a statement. “The public and media are asked to avoid exercise locations and follow any signage and directions on site. No impacts to regular airport operations are anticipated.”

The exercise is required for the airport’s Transport Canada certification and is funded through the Union of B.C. Municipalities.
