Saturday afternoon, community members gathered to petition against the possible closure of Oyster River elementary school.
PAC chair and 12-year community member Bobbi-Jo Thulin says her family chose to move to Oyster River because of the small farming community, and smaller school.
She says there are alternatives to keep the school open, they just need more time.
The PAC members explained they recently put $30,000 into new playground equipment, computers and IPads for the children, which was wrote on the cost of the school.
