City continues program aimed at improving looks of downtown

The city is continuing its Downtown Façade Improvement program. Focused specifically on Shopper’s Row and Pier Street it’s aimed at getting the core visual improvements and promoting downtown revitalization.

Since 2014 the program has contributed $51,000 to six façade upgrades. Council has asked staff to look at opportunities to expand the program to other parts of the city like Willow Point and Campbellton.

The city is also going to update its Sign Bylaw and create a handbook of examples for developers and business owners of signage that fits the city’s guidelines for a west coast look and feel.
