Campbell River RCMP respond to more than 200 calls in past week

It’s been a busy few days for the Campbell River RCMP.

Officers have responded to 249 calls over the last week, including a number of high priority, multi-agency calls in addition to the tragic ATV fatalities on Sunday.

The calls include a fatal drug overdose on Friday.  An RCMP officer was flagged down by a person in a home to help and began giving first aid to a man. BC Ambulance arrived but were unable to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was also another sudden death on Saturday where a man was found dead, helping with the evacuation orders after Sunday’s mudslide and a crash on Hilchey Road.

That crash happened just after 2:00am Monday when a 24-year-old woman with a “New” licence lost control of her vehicle. She came to a stop in a hedge across the sidewalk and was arrested for impaired driving with breath samples showing she was over twice the legal limit.
