CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C-The BC Treaty Commission is coming to Campbell River.
It’ll be hosting a day of meetings and a Reconciliation Open House next month. The commission says the goal is to bring awareness to ongoing treaty negotiations and reconciliation-related topics.
Local governments and First Nations communities will be invited to take part. Chief Commissioner Celeste Haldane says she’s hoping residents attend as well:
Haldane says the topics of conversation will include the benefits of reconciliation for everyone, the role of local government in that process and the prosperity that treaties bring to local economies.

The Reconciliation Open House is happening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on March 7th at the Maritime Heritage Centre.
