VANCOUVER, B.C.-Campbell River is the 2018 Open for Business Award winner.
The city beat out Prince George and Penticton for the honour at the Small Business BC Awards Gala in Vancouver this past Friday.
Campbell River took the prize in the Large Communities category for cities with more than 25,000 people. The Open for Business Awards celebrate communities that have created a business-friendly culture that encourages small business growth.
Economic development officer Rose Klukas says nominees had to present the innovative ways their city supports small business. Campbell River’s presentation focused on the Modern Entrepreneur initiative and CRadvantage, the city’s municipal broadband network.
