CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. The Strathcona Regional District is getting some federal funding. $70,000 is coming from the Gas Tax Fund.
The SRD says the money will be spent on developing an “Integrated Community Sustainability Plan” for Electoral Area C – Discovery Islands and Mainland Inlets.
The plan will help shape and support sustainable development for the foreseeable future. The SRD says it’ll be looking to get input from Area C residents to help create the plan to make sure it’s “right for the region”.
North Island MLA Claire Trevena calls the funding a “great example of how all levels of government can work together to make a positive difference.” Area C Director Jim Abram says the plan will be focused “on the entirety of the area” and its values and goals.
