More outcry over ferry cuts on the Quadra Campbell River route

Quadra Island’s representative at the Strathcona Regional District , Jim Abram, is sounding the alarm over reductions of staff on the ferry, saying it could mean a life threatening situation for some people.

Abram says this means the coast guard will have to be called help patients, and paramedics will have to carry people down to the docks and across tied up boats.

Then patients will have to be tied down to the deck of the coast guard boat to be taken to Campbell River and ultimately the hospital.

Abram says family members will not be able to go with patients.

Quadra residents were presented with the newest schedule for the reduction in service for the Campbell River Quadra ferry Wednesday evening.
