Man who led RCMP on foot chase was wanted for domestic violence

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-The Campbell River RCMP is thanking the people that helped them catch a wanted man. There were warrants for Brandon Tyler Jackson for domestic violence and breach of probation.

The RCMP says on Tuesday afternoon the 24-year-old tried to flee from officers on a skateboard and made his way through a number of backyards. The RCMP says many residents called in real time updates and locations as the man ran, and one even gave some water to the police dog involved in the search. He was eventually caught around 5:30pm on Mclelan Road across from Ocean Grove Elementary School.

In a release, Inspector Jeff Preston said “the residents of Campbell River have once again assisted police in identifying persons of interest. I look forward to continuing this strong partnership between the community and RCMP members. Through dogged persistence our officers, the detachment’s police service dog and citizens of Campbell River were able to capture this individual who thought he could outrun the law and did not succeed.”
