A Campbell River businessman is getting national recognition.
White Hat Drycleaners owner Aiguo Zhang was awarded for his work in improving the integration of newcomers into the labour market.
White Hat was one of four businesses nationwide recognized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
They were commended for their work to help newcomers find and retain jobs and to enhance their employment skills.
The federal government said these businesses “have taken exceptional steps to welcome and value newcomers entering the labour market, and to support their overall settlement and integration in Canada.”
North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney said Zhang is a worthy recipient.
“I’ve known Aiguo since my previous work at the Immigrant Welcome Centre so it’s extra special to get to celebrate and recognize his work as Member of Parliament here in Ottawa,” Blaney said.
“Settlement supports and integration into the workforce are so important for successful immigration policies. Aiguo has shown that even a small business in a small community can have an important impact.”
