Shotguns, drugs recovered from Nunns Creek Park tent

A hoard of guns and drugs was recovered from a tent in Nunns Creek Park Thursday, after police investigated a downtown stabbing.

On July 19 at around 11 am, a person was stabbed in the back in the downtown core. The victim was taken to hospital and has since been released. Police identified and arrested a 24-year-old suspect on July 27, then searched a tent in the park believed to be his residence.

They seized several modified rifles, shotguns and ammunition, along with 100 grams of fentanyl and smaller quantities of prescription dilaudid and crack cocaine.

They also found evidence drug users had been trading in their prescription drugs for illicit fentanyl.

The suspect has since been released under protective conditions. Police are recommending several firearms, drug and property offence charges.
