It’s a good incentive to take down the Christmas decorations, get rid of the tree, and support a good cause.
Off-duty firefighters will be chipping trees and collecting donations at the Sportsplex Saturday.
The event is being put on by the firefighters union local 1668, and all proceeds raised will go to the BC Burn Fund and other local charities.
Before dropping off trees for chipping, people should make sure there are no ornaments or tinsel still attached.
The chipping will start at 10 am and run until 2 pm.
