The Shelter Point Distillery near Black Creek has permission from the province to build a new tasting room and an indoor lounge.
The Approval in Principle was granted earlier this month by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch. It allows the distillery to operate a lounge for 60 people to consume the distillery’s products, and a tasting room for 20 people. Both can be open from 11 am to 6 pm, daily.
When the plans were put out to the public late last year, the Branch received no negative feedback.
Shelter Point now has one year to complete construction and have the Branch do a final inspection.
The distillery has been in operation for nearly 15 years, and has won numerous awards for its whiskies.
