Two boat thieves were caught this week near Mitlenatch Island, thanks to three different police departments.
At around 8 am on April 8, Powell River RCMP were asked by the Quadra Island detachment to help intercept a boat stolen from Campbell River. The boat was tracked with GPS and RCMP air support to the area near Mitlenatch and Cortes Island.
Powell River RCMP were en route with their police vessel, when they were notified Quadra police had interecepted the stolen boat and were escorting it to the dock at Manson’s Landing on Cortes Island.
Two suspects were arrested, they have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, and were turned over to the custody of Campbell River RCMP.
