Maritime Market Seeking Vendors for Nautical-Themed Family Event

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. — The Maritime Heritage Centre is making waves this summer with an exciting new event: the Maritime Market, a fun celebration of coastal culture and community. The Centre is now accepting vendor applications for this market, set to feature a wide variety of nautical crafts, marine gear, local history books, antiques, and maritime-themed treasures. Set for June 7, 2025, this event is a new addition to Campbell River’s Ocean Week.

“This is going to be a fun and unique event where families can explore maritime culture, support local creators, and experience the rich heritage of our coast,” says event coordinator Kenzie Bryla. “We’re especially excited to welcome vendors whose products reflect the spirit of the sea—whether it’s handcrafted art, vintage fishing equipment, or books about our local waters. We are really using the nautical theme in the broadest of ways – we want a great diversity of vendors so that there is something for everyone.”

In addition to artisan and specialty vendors, the market will include a garage sale section where individuals can book a table to sell gently used maritime or outdoor items. Think: fishing rods, tackle boxes, boat parts, books, nautical décor, old charts, paddling gear, wetsuits, crab traps, and more!

Alongside shopping and community connection, visitors will enjoy free admission to the Maritime Heritage Centre museum, and have a chance to step aboard the historic BCP 45, a National Historic Monument and a highlight of the Maritime Heritage Centre’s exhibits.

Organizers are encouraging both new and seasoned vendors to apply early, as space is limited.
