Rotary in Motion

April 12th, 5:30 doors open continues until midnight
At the Campbell River Community Centre
Funds raised this year will be used to provide medical services in the Pokhara region of Nepal, with a focus on Women’s and Children’s health issues.
This fundraiser was called Dancing and Tapas for years. It began in 2006. Until 2019 it was strictly a joint fundraiser by both Campbell River Rotary Club’s for international wheelchair projects. Since then, it has been called Rotary in Motion and has been targeted at international service projects including mobility projects (wheelchairs).
This year’s event is raising funds to do mobile medical clinics in the Pokhara region of Nepal, targeting women and children’s health issues. Money raised with be 100% matched through Rotary to a maximum match of USD 27,000. Rotary has partnered with ICO (based in Victoria), a CRA registered charity for this work in Nepal. Cash donations will receive a charitable tax receipt.
The event has four local ethnically diverse restaurants sell their food from booths at the event:
Royal Aroma (Indian/Nepalese), Kung Fu Café (Korean), and Yummy Shawarma Express (Moroccan).
Stonehouse Teas (local tea / coffee/ dessert cafe) will provide desserts and hot drinks, and Beachside Brewing Company (local craft beer pub) will provides cold drinks.
The music at this event is provided by Time Well Wasted. A 12 person band based in the Comox Valley. This band includes brass, string, keyboard and percussion instruments and has two female lead vocalists. The repertoire covers the decades from 60 to present. They have play for us for many years and have a history of have the dance floor full all evening long.
We have games, silent and live auctions to contribute to the fundraising activities.
