A local family is thanking Terry Fox Run participants for their flood of support on Sunday.
The Flood family organized the fundraiser along the Seawalk for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Chris Flood said roughly 320 people raised $8,457, making it one of the better years for sure.
“It was certainly a lot of energy (and) a lot of people came out so it’s fantastic,” he said.
Flood said he Mother Nature cooperated.
“We got lucky this year. We were expecting the big rain and the time the Terry Fox (Run) was being run, we had just cloud cover and no wind. It was ideal.”
This year’s total is above the historical total of about $5,000.
“Obviously the generosity of Campbell River showed itself for sure. It was fantastic,” Flood said.
Forty-two volunteers also lent some helping hands.
Participants started at Frank James Park and made their way for two-and-a-half kilometres to Rotary Beach Park.
They turned around and came back again to finish the five-kilometre route.
This is the eighth year that the Flood family has organized the run.
Seventy-nine cents out of every dollar raised goes to cancer research.
