New regulations coming into effect for BC’s seafood industry

The Provincial government is bringing in new regulations for the seafood industry.

The new Fish and Seafood Act is designed to improve food safety in the province and reduce the high costs. BC’s Minister of Agriculture Norm Letnick says the new regulations are more responsive to the modern-day business environment. He notes it focuses on red tape and strengthens food safety.

Letnick says this will help reduce high administrative costs and regulations. The new act will come into effect on January 1st, 2017.
