The Member of Parliament for North Island-Powell River says more needs to be done to address the issue of affordable housing.
Rachel Blaney says this is a problem in her riding, as well as across the country, with the issue also affecting businesses.
“We continue to wait for this government to announce the facts of their National Housing Strategy.”
She adds that, “one of the key points about making sure we have legislation around the right housing is that we don’t just look at buildings – we look at all the factors that are affecting people’s accessibility to housing.”
Blaney notes business owners are having trouble finding employees due to a lack of affordable housing.
She says her private member’s bill on housing will come forward in September.
