Campbell River firefighters wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Campbell River firefighters are going pink. They’re wearing the colour throughout October for breast cancer awareness.

Fire Chief Ian Baikie says it’s something firefighters across North America are doing. He adds breast cancer is just one of the many cancers linked to the work firefighters do because of exposure to carcinogens and other chemicals.

Breast cancer affects one in eight Canadian women during their lifetime. Campbell River’s firefighters are encouraging everyone to take part in breast cancer awareness and prevention activities.
