CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-The Campbell River BIA says it’s had enough.
The organization has started a petition aimed at addressing the issues surrounding the downtown. The petition says the survival of the area as a place for commerce and families “no longer allows us to tolerate vandalism, public drunkenness, or crime.”
It’s asking for two things. First that the RCMP establish a permanent presence in downtown Campbell River, and second that the RCMP adopts a zero tolerance policy towards crime and misdemeanors in the downtown.
The BIA has posted a copy of the petition online and is also going around with paper copies asking people to sign. You can find the petition at this website.
