Movie rentals to raise funds for victims of Campbell River apartment fire

The John Howard Society of North Island and TELUS are partnering to help out the victims of a recent fire.

On Saturday, all funds collected from Optik TV Video On Demand movie rentals in the city will go towards those impacted by the April 8th blaze at the Pacific Heights complex.

While there were no reported injuries, 96 people are now left without a home.

The victims have been provided with food, clothing and accommodation under the province’s Emergency Support Services program.

They’ve also been put up at the Discovery Inn downtown and will be staying there until the end of the month.

If you’re a Campbell River resident, you can participate by choosing from hundreds of movie titles in the Optik TV Video On Demand menu.

Your purchase will automatically go to the society’s homeless outreach and prevention program which is working directly with those affected by the fire.

All money raised through the fundraiser will help to secure new housing.
