Thousands are without power locally, on the North Island and across Vancouver Island as a snowstorm hits the region.
Specifically, in Campbell River, dozens of outages have popped up on BC Hydro’s outage map, most notably in the downtown area.
A source tells our newsroom various businesses in and around downtown have been prompted to close their doors until the power’s back.
BC Hydro says crews have either been assigned, are on their way, or are already on scene working to restore the power.
But as the outages extend beyond, people on Quadra Island, in the Comox Valley, and farther north in communities like Port Hardy, Port McNeill and Alert Bay are also in the dark.
