Lot that housed fire-ravaged Pacific Heights building hits the market

The site of an apartment building that once housed low-income families in Campbell River is now on the market for almost $2.4-million.

“High profile corner lot that is close to the downtown core makes it an ideal location for development,” states the REALTOR.ca listing.

But as locals recall, the 0.90-acre lot at the corner of Dogwood St. and 9th Ave. wasn’t always vacant. It used to house Pacific Heights Apartments.

A fire ravaged the complex on April 8th, 2020, leaving close to 100 people without a home. The damage was so bad, what remained was torn down completely the following September.

No injuries were reported from the blaze, but fire crews did rescue people from the building. Following the fire, some residents couldn’t find new homes and were at risk of homelessness.
