The Campbell River Fire Department will soon host its annual open house.

The department said the event offers families a chance to connect with the community while learning how to stay safe.

Participants can take part in hands-on activities and fire equipment demonstrations and receive information about FireSmart Canada initiatives and wildfire preparedness.

There will also be a barbecue by donation and an opportunity to meet firefighters and dispatchers.

The event takes place May 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at No. 1 Fire Station on 13th Avenue in Campbell River.
