BC Ferries replaces CEO as board launches system review

BC Ferries has ousted CEO Nicolas Jimenez as it launches a review to “revitalize” its systems.

BC Ferries’ board said Monday it had appointed its vice-president of strategy and planning Brian Anderson as interim CEO.

It said a formal search for a permanent CEO will come after the review is completed.

The board said the review is intended to “define new ways to optimize the system and improve how BC Ferries delivers services for customers and coastal communities.”

The company said it undergoes a regulatory review and contract discussions every fours years, as mandated under the Coastal Ferry Act.

“The Board is committed to bringing innovative solutions to service obligations and working with the incoming provincial government, BC Ferry Authority, and BC Ferries’ Commissioner to ensure the system is reliable, safe, and sustainable,” said the statement.

Executive vice-president and chief financial officer Dallyn Willis will lead the review, with oversight from the board.

The board thanked Jimenez for his contributions to BC Ferries and wished him “success in his future endeavours.”

Jimenez had held the top role at BC Ferries since 2023, and was previously CEO of ICBC.
