Campbell River fire crews return to Fire Hall No. 1

Staff have returned to Campbell River’s Fire Hall No. 1 after being temporarily relocated last week because of water damage.

The city relocated staff on Oct. 28 after a hazardous materials survey identified asbestos-containing materials in areas affected by a leak. The move was made as a precaution.

The on-duty fire crew operated from the city’s Enterprise Resource Centre beside City Hall for several days, while dispatch staff worked from the North Island 9-1-1 backup centre.

The city was advised Friday that staff could safely return to the building.

Emergency services continued as usual during the relocation, with no disruption to fire suppression or 9-1-1 dispatch.
