Bottle Drive for Campbell River Air Cadets set for tomorrow

Those with used cans and bottles lying around are encouraged to drive in, drop off and feel good about supporting local air cadets.

For a second year, the Campbell River Air Cadets are collecting cans and bottles from 10 am –  2 pm at the Island Return-It recycling centre located at 1580 Willow St.

Tanja Shields, president of the squadron sponsoring committee, says funds raised are much appreciated as they go towards maintaining the cadet building and the classrooms where courses are held.

“Because we are a society we need funds and we need to fundraise. That’s why we go out at the beginning of the year, to help with that,” Shields says.

The air cadets have been in Campbell River for 33 years and saw success with the 2019 Bottle Drive as over $1,800 was raised.

Shields is anticipating this year’s drive raises even more.

“We try different fundraisers each year, but we seem to think the bottle drive does well for us. We are hoping to surpass what we raised last year.”

When dropping off used cans and bottles to the Island Return-It, let the desk staff know it is for the Campbell River Air Cadets.

Cadets will be out in the community as well, going door to door collecting refundables.
