Fire Ban lifted in the Fog Zone

The Fog Zone and Haida Gwaii have receive enough rain to allow campfires again.

The fog zone stretches across a two kilometer wide strip along the west coast of Vancouver Island, starting at Owen Point and ending at the boundary of Port Hardy.

Fire information officer Marg Drysdale says she expects more rain later this week for that region, and hopefully no lighting storms.

Drysdale adds she finds it strange the fire danger rating differs so much throughout the island.

A map of the fog zone is available online at bcwildfire.ca
