Carihi Secondary students win big at international math competition

It seems Campbell River has a few math whizzes in its midst.

School District 72 is congratulating seven students from Carihi Secondary School on a job well done, after competing in a contest through the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing.

Students across North America, as well as in many other countries take part in the annual contest, SD72 says. It runs through the University of Waterloo in Ontario.

Locally, this year’s contest award winners include Anna Chatterton, Jordis Briscoe, Donny Xu, William Badzio-George, and medal winners Olivia Fagan and Zoe Yu.

A Certificate of Distinction was also awarded to Lina Yu, an honour given out to the top 25 per cent of participants worldwide who score above an even higher threshold.
