Dale Purinton, head coach of the VIJHL’s Kerry Park Islanders has been charged with felony first-degree burglary.
Police say the former New York Ranger broke into a house in Sylvan Beach, New York and physically assaulted the only resident in the building. The victim was taken to hospital and later released.
He retired from playing in 2008 after four seasons in the minors. His last team was the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters.
Purinton is set to appear in court at a later date.
