Storm start the season strong

The Campbell River Storm opened their regular season on the weekend notching up a pair of wins over their north division rivals.

On Friday night, the Storm defeated the Nanaimo Buccaneers 7-0 before an approaching crowd of 1000 at Rod Brind’Amour Arena. It was a clear team effort with goals coming from seven different skaters. Matt Kostiw was named first star stopping all of the Buc’s 24 shots.

Sunday afternoon, the Comox Valley Glacier Kings were in town, and Braeden Cyra completed a hat-trick in the 7-3 victory.

Despite the four-goal margin victory, head coach and general manager Lee Stone was not entirely impressed by the performance.

The next home game for the Storm is Friday Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the Oceanside Generals.
