Campbell River finances on track through second quarter

Campbell River’s finances are on track, according to the city’s second-quarter financial report.

The report was presented to council at its Aug. 13 meeting by Financial Services Manager Aaron Daur.

Revenues were at nearly 79 per cent of budget at the end of June, while operating expenses were at 47 per cent.

Those figures are in line with the second quarter of 2025, according to the report.

Of the 74 approved operating projects, 62 are underway, while 64 of 95 capital projects have begun.

About $5.6 million of the city’s $66.7 million capital-project budget has been spent.

Daur said the biggest project on the books is the John Hart reservoir expansion.

“That’s a $14.4 million dollar project,” said Daur. “We are working on our procurement documents, and we anticipate that will be put out for competition on the back half of this year.”

Council also approved an additional $144,000 for updates to the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw, funded through available grant money.
