Earthquake struck the South Island

An earthquake rattled the south island last night.

It struck just north of Victoria, around 11:30 and was felt across a lot of the south coast.

Alison Bird is a seismologist with Natural Resources Canada.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Bird notes the quake is a reminder that we live in an earthquake zone and that it’s important to have an emergency kit stocked and ready to go.
