Fire department urging people to change smoke alarm batteries

With the clocks going back one hour this weekend it’s a good time to check your smoke alarms. That’s the word from the Campbell River Fire Department.

Changing the batteries in all your alarms can save you and your family’s lives. The fire department says two-thirds of home fire deaths happen in homes without working smoke alarms.

It’s recommended you install one in every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on each floor of your home. On top of that the Campbell River Fire Department recommends installing carbon monoxide alarms as well.
