City says it’s ready for snowy conditions

The City of Campbell River says it’s geared up for winter weather. This comes after the southern part of the island was pelted with snow yesterday.

Jon Isfeld, the city’s Roads and Drainage Supervisor, says of the city’s five big trucks three have had plowing and sanding gear installed. The other two could be suited up quickly if needed as well.

The city has also been out brining the streets weekday mornings when the temperature dips close to freezing. That’s a pre-emptive measure designed to keep the roads from freezing over by treating them with a salt/water mixture.

Although the short-term weather forecast isn’t calling for snow in Campbell River we are expecting freezing conditions.
