New Campbell River City Council and mayor sworn in

The City of Campbell River has sworn in its new mayor and council following the Nov. 2 inaugural council meeting.

The meeting began with opening remarks from Chief Administrative Officer Elle Brovold and a welcome from We Wai Kai Chief Ronnie Chickite.

Provincial Court Judge Brian Dybwad administered the oaths of office to Mayor Kermit Dahl and the six newly elected councillors:

  • Councillor Laird Ruehlen
  • Councillor Susan Sinnott
  • Councillor Lucas Schuller
  • Councillor Joëlle Samson
  • Councillor Brittany Colville
  • Councillor Ben Lanyon

After taking the oath and receiving the chain of office, Dahl delivered his inaugural address, thanking residents for re-electing him for a second term.

“I’m deeply honoured to have been re-elected for a second term as mayor,” Dahl said. “Thank you, Campbell River, for your continued support, it means a lot.”

Dahl said he and council would work to repay the confidence residents had placed in them.

“Your votes are powerful, and I’m certain that all of us elected officials here tonight recognize the responsibility and trust you’ve placed in us. Over the next four years we’ll work together and do our best to move the community forward.”
